Death Stranding is a Year 2019 action game developed by Kojima Productions and published by Sony Interactive Ent. Death Stranding is director Hideo Kojima and Kojima Productions’ 1st game after their split from Konami in Year 2015. A Windows port licensed by Sony was released by 505 Games in July, Year 2020. A Director’s Cut version was released for PlayStation 5 in September, Year 2021, followed by a Windows version in March, Year 2022. Death Stranding game is set in the U.S after a cataclysmic event causes destructive creatures to start roaming the Earth. Players control Sam Porter Bridges, a courier tasked with delivering supplies to isolated colonies and reconnecting them via a wireless communications network (WCN). In addition to Reedus, Death Stranding game features actors Léa Seydoux ,Mads Mikkelsen, Troy Baker, Margaret Qualley, Lindsay Wagner and Tommie Earl Jenkins as well as directors Guillermo del Toro and Nicolas Winding Refn as supporting characters.
It has received generally positive reviews, with critics praising its voice visual effects, acting, soundtrack and with more mixed opinions regarding the story and gameplay. Death Stranding game has been nominated for and won several awards, including Game of the Year. As of July Year 2021, Death Stranding had sold 5M copies worldwide. Several commentators later pointed out that elements of the game resembled the COVID-19 pandemic which started a month after its original release.
Death Stranding is a game set in an open world with asynchronous online features. Kojima refers to Death Stranding as the first “cover game”, the first type of integration of social elements into the game. Kojima compared this version to one of his first Metal Gear games – which is now considered a stealth game – was called an action game when it was released because the stealth mode had not yet been developed.
