Devil May Cry 5 is a 2019 action and adventure game developed and published by Capcom. It is the sixth installment overall and the 5th installment in the Devil May Cry series. Capcom released Devil May Cry 5 on Windows,PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on March 8, Year 2019. The game is set 5 years after Devil May Cry 4 and follows a trio of heroes with demonic powers, the return of Dante, Nero, and a new protagonist. named V, as they try to stop the Demon King Urizen from destroying the human world. During their journey in Red Grave City, the player can use these characters in various tasks. Each of them has his own way of fighting and getting stronger. When this happens, the mystery behind V is revealed, along with his connection to Urizen.
It was directed by Hideaki Itsuno whose aim was for this installment to be his great work. His goal was to balance the game for newcomers and returning players by providing various difficulties and challenges. Capcom also wanted to bring a more realistic design inspired by the RE engine used in their previous work, (RE7 ) Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. As a result, real life people were used to create the character’s faces. The plot was written by writer Bingo Morihashi, while the setting was based on various locations in London country. Multiple composers worked together to produce the game’s audio, creating 3-main themes centered around the playable characters.
It has received positive reviews from critics, praising the variety of techniques that the 3 characters bring to bear and also appreciating the handling of the narrative. Devil May Cry 5 game won multiple awards and sold over 2M copies in less than 2 weeks of its release, which increased to 6M by October Year 2022, making it the best selling game in the franchise. A light novel and manga related to the game Devil May Cry 5 have also been released. An expanded version called Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition was released for X/S ,Xbox Series and PlayStation 5 in November Year 2020, which features the addition of Vergil as a playable character.
