Halo: The Chief Collection is a collection of 1st person shooter video games from the Halo series. The collection was released in November Year 2014 for Xbox One, and ported to Microsoft Windows and Xbox Series X/S. This collection was developed by 343 companies in collaboration with other studios and published by Xbox Game Studios. The collection includes Halo: Wars Evolved Anniversary, Halo 2: Anniversary, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, Halo: Reach, and Halo 4. Every game in the Master Chief collection has received a graphical upgrade. Halo 2 received a high-definition remaster of its video, audio, and cinematics to celebrate its tenth anniversary. The game includes access to the Halo: Nightfall live action series and the Halo 5: Defense multiplayer beta that ran in 2014-15.
Initially, reviewers generally praised The Master Chief Collection for its audio and visual updates, as well as its extensive content. Conflicts and bugs in many games and the gaming experience led to an apology from the 343 company and several release updates. Many of these technical issues were eventually resolved in release patches.
The first Master’s Collection contains Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Halo 2 Anniversary, Halo 3, and Halo 4, as well as their catalog of add-ons, including multiplayer maps and game modes from the original version. The games are first-person shooters with vehicular combat that takes place in a three-person mode. Each campaign has four difficulty levels and access to in-game decorations known as “Skulls”.
As with Anniversary Evolved, Halo 2 players can switch between original and updated graphics on the fly. Additions to the media version of Halo 2 include “Terminals” and new prologue and epilogue cutscenes to tie the series together for the debut of Halo 5. Since only six of the game’s multiplayer maps have been redesigned, the contains a binary version of Halo 2.
