About Monster Hunter World: Iceborne

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne (MHWI) is an expansion pack developed and published by Capcom for the Year 2018 action game Monster Hunter: World (MHW). It was released for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in September Year 2019 and for Windows in January Year 2020. It introduces new monsters, improved game mechanics, and a new story set in the Hoarfrost Reach, an arctic-themed region. The game was both a commercial and critical success, selling over 8.5 million copies upon release. Similar to the main game, Iceborne, the player takes on the role of a hunter, killing or capturing monsters alone or with other players. Iceborne has a new arctic environmental feature called Hoarfrost Reach, which is considered one of the maps created by the team, where players will encounter both new and returning elements. As the player slowly progresses through the story, more areas of the Hoarfrost Reach will be opened up for players to explore. As it takes place in a cold environment, the players must drink hot drinks or go to hot water to keep their breath. Snow will also slow players down. Seliana is the central area of the Hoarfrost Reach, where players can visit armorers and bosses. The expansion includes a new fast travel system called Raider Rides, allowing players to train and ride small creatures to reach designated locations on the map or track down monsters. , the player still collects some items during the journey.

Capcom introduced new combat options and gear in Iceborne, such as giving players the ability to use the new Clutch Claw gear and the creative Flinch Shot to defeat monsters. The Slinger can now be used with drawn primary weapons. All types of weapons have received extended upgrade paths, as well as additional attacks to help improve their power. Existing weapons and armor received additional upgrades. Iceborne introduced a new weapon layer, allowing players to layer additional weapons on top of their existing weapons to customize the hunter’s appearance, while retaining the same skill set. Iceborne introduces a new hunter rank called Master Rank. When they reach Master Rank, players will encounter stronger enemies and creatures, although they will also receive better rewards such as receiving new weapons.
