Mordhau is a medieval hack multiplayer and slash fighting game developed by Slovenian indie studio Triternion, with an important aspect of customization and skill-based competitive gameplay. It features a combat system that emphasizes hand-to-hand combat, loosely based on historical techniques such as feints, redirection, and alternate use of weapons. Other features include ranged weapons, siege engines, and mounted combat. The game was released on April 29, 2019 for Microsoft Windows via Steam. Versions are in development for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
The game was partially funded through a Kickstarter campaign in Year 2017, raising nearly $300,000.
In this game players engage in hand-to-hand combat using medieval weapons such as shields, swords, hammers, bows, spears, siege weapons, and more. When in close combat, players can take down their opponents using many techniques such as directional kicks, strikes, blocks, stabs, dodges, and parries while watching their health and stamina bars. In this game Players can ride a horse into battle. The game can be played in 1st-person perspective or 3rd-person perspective.
Outside of Mordhau game, the player can modify and create mercenaries for most game modes. While creating or editing, the player can change their mercenary’s body type, voice, and face for cosmetic purposes. Modifying things like perks, weapons, and armor costs game points. Depending on what type of armor the player has, it can affect the player’s movement speed, for example wearing heavier armor will make the player move slower and cost more points, while there are only 3 tiers of armor, also there they are cosmetic variations for the armor. All weapon point values are roughly determined by the size of the weapon, as a light dagger would not be as expensive as a heavy hammer. The perk system will grant the mercenary various passive skills in exchange for points, which scale based on the ideal utility of the perks.
