Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is a year 2022 video game developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo and The Pokémon Company for the Nintendo Switch. They are the 1st installment of the 9th generation of the Pokémon video game series. 1st announced in February year 2022, they were released on November 18, year 2022.
Unlike previous installments in the Pokémon franchise, scarlet and Violet takes place in an open world. Pokémon Scarlet and Violet game takes place in the region of Paldea, based on the Iberian Peninsula. There are 3 different stories the player can follow. Violet and Red has 103 new Pokémon, as well as two new regional types. Also introduced are time dissolving creatures known as the Pokémon Paradox and the Terastal Phenomenon, which allow a Pokémon to transform into its “Tera Type” only. The games retain the features of previous modern Pokémon games, including large slots and Pokémon appearing in the world.
Scarlet and Violet received mixed reviews from critics. The games were praised for their open structure and story, while their graphics and art were criticized in the beginning. The games sold over 10M units in their 1st 3 days, making it Nintendo’s biggest launch of all time. By the end of year 2022, they had sold over 20M units combined, making them the fourth best-selling Pokémon game of all time.
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet has an open world, which includes both urban areas and desert areas with no borders in between, unlike previous installments in the Pokémon series. On top of that, the progress of the game is in the hands of the players, and there are three paths to choose from, and the objectives on the road can be completed in any order.
The game features three new Pokémon, Fuecoco, Sprigatito and Quaxly; and two new Legendary Pokémon, Miraidon and Koraidon. To make movement easier, Koraidon[e] or Miraidon can be used to get around. A mechanic called “Let’s Go” will allow the player to send Pokémon to roam outside and fight wild Pokémon directly. Additionally, cooperative play with up to three other players is included.
