Psychonauts 2 is a platform game developed by Double Fine and published by Xbox Game Studios. Psychonauts 2 game was announced at The Game Awards Year 2015 and will be released on August 25, Year 2021 for Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, and May 24, Year 2022 for Linux and macOS. Like the game’s predecessor, the player controls Raz, a young acrobat who is training to become a psychic, a member of an international task force that uses his psychic powers to stop the use their own spiritual power to do evil. Set in Psychonauts 2, based on the events of the interstitial virtual reality game, Psychonauts in the Rhombus of Ruin, the Psychonauts try to find out who was really behind the capture of their leader, uncovering a deep mystery of founded the foundation. Double Fine acquired the intellectual property of Psychonauts from Majesco Entertainment in Year 2011, allowing them to re-release the game on modern platforms, which have seen strong sales and an increase in players for the series. Double Fine wants to get some of its capital to support the development of Psychonauts 2 through a $3.3M in advertising investment from Fig, launched at the same time as the game’s announcement. The campaign raised nearly $4M in early Year 2016.
