Sifu is a beat ’em up video game developed and published by the French company Sloclap. In modern day China, players control the son of a sifu (master) of a martial arts school who seeks revenge for his father’s death. Every time the protagonist dies, they are resurrected by a magical spell and age, gaining more powerful attacks but reducing their health. When the player’s character gets older, they can die permanently, while the players will start the level from the beginning and from the same age as their first attempt. The game was released on February 8, year 2022 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4, and on November 8, year 2022 for Nintendo Switch. It is also slated for release on Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S in March year 2023. It received generally positive reviews, with praise for its combat, environment and story, and sold over one million units within a month of its release.
Sifu is a 3 person action game. Sifu game, inspired by Bak Mei kung fu, includes more than 150 unique fights. Attack moves can be chained together, although some combos can allow players additional tricks, such as the ability to take down enemies or make them stun. The protagonist and all the enemies that oppose the narrator have a “Structural Gauge”. When the view is full, these guards will be broken and they will be easy to finish the attack. Players can also block breathing, although this slowly fills their inventory. On the other hand, players can also dodge attack or parry when the enemy is about to fall. A successful parry allows the player to stun an enemy or knock them out in one direction. The game allows players to take advantage of the environment and develop new attacks or change their strategy against a stronger enemy. For example, the player can shoot the enemy from the edge or use different objects as weapons.
