System Shock 2023 is an upcoming adventure-action game developed by Nightdive Studios and published by Prime Matter. It is a 1994 video adaptation of the same name, produced by Looking Glass Studios. System Shock 2023 game is scheduled to be released simultaneously in month March year 2023 on Linux, Microsoft Windows, macOS, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
The 1st System Shock, released in year 1994, was developed by Looking Glass Studios, which closed in year 2000. The company’s assets, including the rights to System Shock, were acquired by Star Insurance Company. In year 2012, Nightdive Studios acquired the rights to System Shock II and created a digital distribution version for modern operating systems. Night Dive Studios then acquired the rights to System Shock and the franchise as a whole.
2 months after the release of System Shock: Enhanced Edition in month September year 2015, Night Dive Studios announced plans to remake System Shock for Xbox One and Windows using the Unity engine. Originally announced as System Shock Remastered, Night Dive Studios chose to call the new game simply System Shock, as they considered the level of effort put into the title making it more of a reboot of a franchise rather than a remake of a game 1st, Veteran designer Chris Avellone and the Fallout: Vegas development team have confirmed their involvement. Night Dive Studios plans to fund the game’s development through a Kickstarter campaign launched on month June 28, year 2016, with a goal of US$900,000. As part of the Kickstarter campaign, the company has released a free demo that shows the initial version of the 1st stage of the game, showing their current efforts in the project and aims to “show the commitment and passion ” to restore faithfulness. The Kickstarter goal was reached on month July 9, year 2016 with 19 days left in its campaign, and ended on month July 28, year 2016 with over $1.35M in funding from approximately 21,600 backers.
