The Legend of Zelda:Tears game of a Kingdom is an upcoming year 2023 adventure and action game developed by Nintendo EPD and published for the Nintendo Switch. The sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (2017) year, Tears of the Realm retains many aspects of its predecessor, including the open world environment of Hyrule, which has been expanded to allow for vertical exploration. Link, the protagonist of Tears of the Kingdom, Zelda joins Ganon and opposes him.
After the development of Breath of the Wild was completed in year 2017, a process was conceived when the game’s downloadable content could not contain all the ideas that the development team had introduced. Breath of the Wild director Hidemaro Fujibayashi and producer Eiji Aonuma turn their roles in Tears of the Kingdom. A teaser video for Tears of the Kingdom was released during E3 year 2019, the full reveal was released at E3 year 2021, and the title of the game was revealed during the September year 2022 Nintendo Direct. Although Tears of the Kingdom is set to be released in year 2022, its release is currently scheduled for month May 12, year 2023.
Development began in year 2017 after The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild ended. The game was announced at E3 year 2019 as a sequel to Breath of the Wild. At E3 year 2021, Nintendo released a trailer revealing gameplay, storyline and a 2022 release date, but Nintendo later changed the release date to Q2 2023. More information was revealed in a Nintendo Direct presentation held in September 2022, including the title Tears of the Kingdom and a release date of month May 12, year 2023, and another Nintendo Direct in February 2023 teased another part of the game.
Breath of the Wild director Hidemaro Fujibayashi and Zelda designer Eiji Aonuma reprise their roles. The Legend of Zelda:Tears was created when the team couldn’t use all the ideas planned for Breath of the Wild’s downloadable content. Some new features include the floating islands of Hyrule, players can fly between them in a manner similar to The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (2011) year.
