Overwatch 2 is a 2022 1st person shooter from Blizzard Entertainment. As a sequel to the year 2016 superhero shooter Overwatch, Overwatch 2 game features a shared environment for player versus player (P v P) while introducing a permanent co-op mode. The biggest change in the P v P mode is to reduce the team size from six to five. Many capital letters have also been reworked. Over watch 2 is free to play on Nintendo Switch, Windows, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S at an early launch on month October 4 and features full cross-play.
The game is a hero shooter, where players split into two teams and choose a “hero” from among 35 characters. Characters are organized into “damage” classes, responsible for offensive attempts; a “support” class that deals with healing and massage; and the “tank” class, responsible for protecting the group. Each character has a unique set of skills, with active, passive, and ultimate abilities. Overwatch 2, like its predecessor, focuses on player-versus-player (P v P) combat in a variety of modes and maps, as well as including casual matches and competitive levels.
The original Overwatch was designed for 6-on-6 team battles, with two classes per team. In the game, the number of tank slots has been reduced by one, bringing the total number of single players to 5. According to game director Aaron Keller, the developers hoped that losing the tank would make the game faster because they felt that the original 6-game plan made the game faster. It also aims to minimize what players and spectators need to pay attention to. The new map has been designed to include more coverage options to compensate for the reduced tank-based defense. In addition, damage class heroes now have increased movement speed, support heroes spawn slower, and tank heroes have been redesigned to be more offensive. The heroes are redesigned to reflect the time that has passed since the events of the 1st game. Overwatch 2 includes a ping system to draw teammates’ attention to points on the map.
